Recently, KISS’s Gene Simmons made headlines when he made the controversial remark that he couldn’t wait for rap to die.

“I am looking forward to the death of rap,” he told Rolling Stone. “I’m looking forward to music coming back to lyrics and melody, instead of just talking.”

Talib Kweli clapped back at Simmons on Sunday, tweeting out, “[H]iphop has saved countless lives. How dare he wish it dead. So would it be fair to wish him dead, or nah?” He also took the time to educate the haters about the fact that hip-hop is still vibrant and free, despite “lazy” people who don’t dig as deep as they should.
