Monday might have been Nick Young’s birthday, but the Lakers guard had someone else in mind he wanted to celebrate.
That someone else was his rapper girlfriend Iggy Azalea. The gift? Â A marriage proposal with help from a ring worth a reported $500,000.
“Will you marry me?” Young shouted to his 24-year-old Australian girlfriend. When she said “yes,” everyone around them burst into applause and cheers.
“Nick was very involved in designing the ring,” said Jason Arasheben, CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills said in a release, reports the New York Daily News. “We wanted it to be both a ring of Iggy’s dreams and a ring that fits her personal style.”

It’s a high point for Azalea, who has struggled this year with a cancelled tour and lots of hate directed at her on social media. But Young has stood beside her through it all, and gave her tips on how to get through it all, she told Power 106 in a recent interview.
“He was like, ‘Why you lettin’ these people push over you?'” she said during the February interview. “‘You just gotta be Yeezy on ’em!’ That’s what he kept saying. He was like, ‘Just be the No. 1 playa hater.'”
