Two women were charged with felony child endangerment after giving alcohol to a toddler, who then suffered acute alcohol poisoning.

The hospital found the baby to have a blood alcohol content level of 0.268, which is over three times the legal limit for adults, reports KHOU.

The incident happened in February.

Shadreon Jefferson, the 17-year-old mother, dropped the baby off with the child’s paternal grandmother, who called 911 when the toddler was vomiting and could not stand.

Jefferson admitted that she and her friend, Shamara Batiste, gave the child vodka with a mixer and admitted that the child had about six shots.

According to KHOU, the two women avoided jail:

Jefferson pleaded guilty and was sentenced Monday to three years deferred adjudication. Batiste also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years of probation.
