Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

On Saturday, Mike Epps revealed why his character on Survivor’s Remorse was killed off after two seasons: it was all about the money.

Apparently, Epps had asked for a raise, and the higher-ups at Starz didn’t much like it, he explained during the Television Critics Association press tour panel in which he was promoting his new sitcom for ABC called Uncle Buck.

“I asked for some more money and they killed me,” he said of his character, Julius.

“That’s usually what happens on TV shows,” he continued, “if you can remember Good Times, that’s what happened.”
