Wendy Williams reveals son's addiction to synthetic marijuana, says she sent him to detox

Wendy Williams reveals her son's addition to synthetic marijuana live on 'The Wendy Williams Show'...

Wendy Williams returned yesterday to daytime television, and with her return came the Hot Topics segment. Usually, Williams reveals huge celebrity scandals, but this time, the revelation hit a little closer to home: Williams admitted that her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., is battling an addiction to synthetic marijuana.

“So the most important thing that happened this summer, which was a life-changing thing for the Hunter family, is our son was made exposed to synthetic marijuana and he was exposed by a loved one who he looked up to,” Williams said.

She went on to say that she had no idea her son was struggling with this addiction because of the nature of synthetic marijuana.

“It’s one of those pens where you don’t see the smoke, and you don’t smell anything,” she said. She then added, “I was duped and my kid had been smoking this mess and he got turned out to the point that he went off the rail for a moment.”

Thankfully, Williams said, her son had not suffered any seriously ill effects, and she sent him to a medical detox facility out of the country get the professional help he needed, but it could have been so much worse.

Experts say that synthetic marijuana is particularly dangerous because of the wide variation in potency levels, and the side effects can include, according to Forbes, “agitation, vomiting, hallucination, paranoia, tremor, seizure, tachycardia, hypokalemia, chest pain, cardiac problems, stroke, kidney damage, acute psychosis, brain damage and death.”
